Line art for a new watercolor

Normally I put the linework down after the painting, but I decided to try it in reverse this time.

Tried to go for something of a 1920’s look to the woman’s face and hair, without copying anything to straight up. Looked up a lot of Theda Bara images and the like. I love the sultry look and attitude of Theda, though this character has a slightly more wide eyed and vulnerable look to her like Louise Brooks (Eric is saying Ruth St. Denis.)

Either way, right now I’m positively enamored of this image right here:

Why isn’t everything like this anymore?
